mobile payment service/Google Wallet launched

NEW YORK, Google Inc. launched a mobile payment service called Google Wallet, Thursday 5 / 26. These services will be available on phones from Sprint Nextel Corp.. This service allows phone owners to pay and the dilute coupons via mobile phone with Android operating system.

The technology was available in the Nexus S Android phone from Sprint, the third largest wireless operator in the United States. Google uses a technology called short-range communication or near field communication (NFC). This technology allows users to pay via mobile phone at the cash register equipped with NFC.

Google will launch this service in five cities, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington DC.

Borrell Associates Inc. estimates that spending in the U.S. through mobile coupons will rise to be 6.53 billion U.S. dollars in 2014 compared to last year's 370 million U.S. dollars.

Google uses hardware and software from several companies, such as Systems Inc. VeriFone and ViVOtech Inc., to run the service.

Infosys works with microsoft, Microsoft's internal IT service management

Infosys announced that it would manage internal IT services for Microsoft worldwide.

As part of this three-year managed services agreement, Infosys would streamline implementation processes, simplify support and service, while at the same time lowering the enterprise costs through the use of the latest Microsoft solutions such as Windows 7, the Bangalore-headquartered company said in a statement.

Infosys would provide Microsoft with IT help desk, desk-side services and infrastructure and application support from multiple global centres. Infosys would manage Microsoft’s internal IT services for applications, devices, and databases in 450 locations across 104 countries.

“Infosys will establish a dedicated Service Excellence Office to help Microsoft implement ISO 20000 and ITSM Processes”, the statement said.

“This agreement provides Infosys with a unique opportunity to partner with Microsoft and gain deep and early expertise in the implementation and management of the latest Microsoft technologies, and thus enhancing Infosys capabilities to help other customers leverage Microsoft’s innovation and adopt these technologies”, it said.

Infosys has partnered with Unisys to provide global desk-side support and service desk based on their strong capabilities, commitment to innovation and customer service.

Unisys’ multi-language service desk integrated with desk side support would enable enhanced end-user productivity, it was stated.

Twitter, that ads in search results

Twitter announced a feature called Promoted Tweets on Tuesday, allowing companies to pay to have their Twitter posts display at the top of searches on the site.

Twitters says its advertisers include Best Buy, Sony Pictures, Starbucks and Virgin America.

The Twitter microblogging service started in 2006 and has grown quickly, but has lacked a business model to make it profitable.

Twitter has partnered with Google and Microsoft's Bing to make its posts available to those search engines. The dollar value of those deals hasn't been released.

In a post on the Twitter blog, co-founder Biz Stone said the promoted tweets will be shown in search results, similar to the sponsored search results in Google, Bing and Yahoo.

Twitter users will see the ads when they search for topics being talked about on the service.

Stone said the program will later expand so that Promoted Tweets would appear in Twitter clients and other partner services.

Stone said the feature will measure if the sponsored tweets are "resonating" with Twitter users based on replies and forwards of the ad. If they fail to catch on, "the Promoted Tweet will disappear," he wrote.

Stocks continued on their sell-off at the opening today, Following Worse-than-Expected news on new jobless claims and renewed Worries about Greece's debt situation.

In the first 30 minutes of trading, the Dow is down three-tenths of 1 percent.

The broader S & P 500 is down four-tenths of 1 percent and the tech-heavy Nasdaq is down half of 1 percent.

Last week's new jobless claims unexpectedly rose by 18.000. Investors continued to worry about a possible default by Greece. Were the Asian and European markets down by 1 percent.
