Comparing the amount of income compared with colleagues or family members can cause unhappiness that trigger stress.

Studies analyzing the data 19 thousand respondents from 24 countries in Europe have found three-quarters of employees feel it is important to know other people and compare the salaries of their income with other people.

Researchers from the Paris School of Economics found that people compare their salaries with other people more likely to feel depressed and unhappy.

Respondents indicated, the higher the position of people who became a comparison, the lower their ratings on life and standard of living itself. There is no difference between sexes when comparing salaries with other people. Their study, published in the Economic Journal found that poorer communities are most affected.

Even more surprising, compare salaries with coworkers the most dangerous, because more than twice cause feelings of stress and frustration. "Measuring out their own salaries with coworkers salary increase expectations about the prospects of future revenue potential," said study leader, Professor Andrew Clark as quoted in page BBC.

Professor Cary Cooper, Expert Psychology at Lancaster University Management School, said the type of person who constantly compare themselves with other people tend not to believe in themselves.

"The difference in salary between school or college friends were devastating. Because you think, you and your friends have the same opportunity, and it turns out someone you get something better. Finally you consider yourself incompetent," he said
