As many as 71 percent of consumers know about Apple iPad, six percent of them plan to buy one iPad in a year, and one percent of consumers say will buy iPad immediately after the gadget is available.
If the results of the survey research firm ORC makes sense, Apple could sell more than one million units iPad, as previously thought. Apple could sell seven million predicted iPad until next year.
"Adoption of new technology generally has been slow and requires a tiered process," said vice president and senior analyst with ORC, Kevin Wood, while providing an example the case of the adoption process Blackberry.
"Historically, BlackBerry smartphone is only used by executives, but then slowly spread to the broader user community. Adoption iPad, appears to be increased when consumers are enthusiastic about these technologies and begin to understand to use it," he explained.
Reported by News Factor, Friday (2/4/2010), ORC research showed one thing, namely a significant increase in the number of consumers who 'hunger' of the technology and interested in the iPad. So what does this mean for long-term success iPad? analysts assess, iPad have their own market share, does not depend on the type of other devices that can be purchased consumer products such as netbooks for example.
Therefore, ORC conducted a study analyzing the type of device that will be indispensable if the consumer buys iPad. The result, 39 percent of respondents mentioning any gadget will not replace even though they bought the iPad.
These findings indicate that consumers will continue to use existing technology while using the iPad. But 35 percent said the iPad will replace the laptop or desktop computer that runs with Windows OS
